Double interview: Nhar/John Daly - 18-07-2011

Nhar Interview

- What would be your dream-like achievement as a producer ?

Regarding the orchestral side in my music style, I must admit that recording my own live strings parts from a symphonic ensemble would be great, also human choirs would be exciting.

- what is an ideal place to play your music?

I think my music fit definitively better to smaller places, so a little club with low roof, blue/green/purple lights & a good and well balanced sound system would be fine. Open air places are good too, a dawn in the forest could do the job very well. Cutes and half naked girls would be appreciated too !

- Did you release records to get laid or did you get laid to release records ?

Awesome question but none of these propositions. Sorry...

- If your favorite color was a song, which one would that be? and why?

My favorite color is blue, so if it was a song, it should certainly be that track on the first side of the Blau Studio 1 vinyl back to 1996. It's also for me one of the best of that serie of records.

Bonus:
You are on a lost island with only one 60 min tape/100 mb player. what would you choose?

60 min is really short but here are the tracks I would choose :

Gravenhurst - The diver
Lawrence - Fifteen minutes with you
Black Sabbath - Solitude
Metallica - The call of Cthulu
Board of Canada - 1969 in the sunshine
Dead Can Dance - The carnival is over
Electric Wizard - Dunwich
Pink Floyd - Echoes
Ulver - The future sound of music

John Daly Interview

- What's the first track you played at your last gig and why?

sun palace - rude movements, because it was the warmup set ;)

- If your followers build you a pyramid, what piece of gear would you have buried with you for eternity ?

my korg mono/poly, or maybe my nylon string guitar actually...

- who do you make music for?

whoever will listen! :)

- is a record from 1992 now played and not noticed timeless, or has the music evolved so little since?

a little of both. i think it's hard today to get the same energy as some of those old records, because the new technology removed the random aspect...not to mention the professionalism, actual qualified people mixing and mastering etc..
i dont think dance music has really evolved much since the 90s to be honest...

- what is a particular sound that reminds you of your home?

the ocean. or a style of music? late nineties american, french and uk deep house.

Bonus:
You are on a lost island with only one 60 min tape/100 mb player. what would you choose?

miles davis' bitches brew
